Hello all.

I have connected my excel 2013 with a mysql database, using MySQL for Excel. I don't have any problem downloading fields with values containing greek characters. However, when i try to update a value, using greek characters, the data that reaches the server are not correctly encoded (probably).

I have tested that with mysql workbench i can do the same thing successfully, so there is no problem on the server side.

So, i'm stuck because i cannot think of a way to check/alter the encoding used during the transactions of MySQL for Excel.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi all

I use Excel 2007 and MySQL5.6. I have established connection between Excel and MySQl
using MySQLforExcelConnection (the button at Data ribon tab).

Due to the fact that I have many tables and I must do it for all tables in Database, I am searching a way so every time I open excel file, the connection to be established automatically, update all the tables in excel and also the small window
"Revert Data" "Commit changes" to remain active.
It must be as if I did it manually.

Thank you for help

Hello,
I have installed MySQL for Excel as part of a download of MySQL.
I am using Excel 2010 on a Windows XP OS.
I see the MySQL for Excel add-in in the Data panel of my Excel workbook.
However, clicking teh add-in yields no response.

I have uninstalled and re-installed the add-in a number of times.
I see it in the COM Add-Ins list. The add-in is ticked in the COM Add-ins avaiable list.
The "Ignore other applications...(DDE)" option is not selected in the Options>Advanced>General optionslist.

Is there anything else to check for to get the add-in to work?
Is there a log that captures errors the add-in may be recording while trying to launch?

Any and all advice is appreciated.

Thank you,

When I copy/paste 10 lines in a table containing 5 lines, I have a Excel message concerning protected cells.

I have to insert the lines one by one and then make the copy/paste operation.

Is it the way to do it or is there another way copy/paste the 10 lines in one time ?

Hello.

I discovered MySQL for Excel last week which is just what I need.

But I have a small problem.

When I edit a table with an expression containing an apostrophe, a backslash is inserted before it.
For example : "Arrêt d'urgence" becomes "Arrêt d\'urgence" in the table after I commit.

I noticed by clicking on Show details in the box validating the operation that the following is executed :
"001: UPDATE `test`.`liste_defauts` SET `LIBEL_DEFAUT`='Arrêt d\\\'urgence variateur' WHERE `ID`=19;"
(Three \ before the ')

Best regards.
On MySQL Installer's "Check Requirements" screen, the radio buttons are checked for Video Studio Tools for Office 2010 Runtime and for Microsoft .NET Framework 4 CLient. However the radio button for Microsoft or greater Excel 2007 is not checked.

We have installed all the MySQL components on my computer running Windows 7. As I have no administrative rights for the system, our computer support took care of installation, issuing authorized login when asked by MySQL installation program.
Everything else seems to be working fine, except MySQL for Excel. After browsing through a set of alternatives with our computer support, we found that MySQL for Excel actually works with computer support's profile, but not with my profile. (i.e. on support’s account MySQL for Excel Add-In works, on my account nothing is visible inside Excel)

Anyhow, the control panel shows (also on my account) that MySQL for Excel is installed.

Changing the administrative rights appears not as a feasible option. Are the any other ways to get MySQL for Excel running on my account?
What can I do to get MySQL for Excel working for me?

I am trying to install Mysql for Excel 1.1. Installation from mysql installer reports no problems but Mysql button does not appear in excel on the "data" ribbon.

- I have Mysql for Excel in my Add/Remove programs
- I have files in program files(x86)\mysql\mysql for excel
- ODBC and everything installed and works fine

Where is the button? I went to the mysql for excel directory and tried running the file Mysql.ForExcel.vsto (the vsto deployment manifest file). This opens a program that says it is installing office addons. Looks promising but it fails halfway through with complaint that it can't download file:///C:\program files (x86)/mysql/mysql for excel 1.1.0/mysql.forexcel.dll.config

That file (.config) does not exist in my installation. Is it supposed to?

If I fake it so it goes further then it complains about something called resources/mysql-for-excel.ico. That file does not exist either in my installation. is it supposed to?

I would love (and need) to get this add-in running ASAP. Any help is greatly appreciated. thanks!

Problem editing MySQL table due to foreign keys. (1 reply)

Hi,

I downloaded MySQL for Excel to be able to edit my database on my web hosting server. A database table I need to edit has some columns with foreign keys which prevents me from doing the edits in PhpMyAdmin. In PhpMyAdmin I normally would export a table, make the edits in Excel, then empty the table, and import the edited table data. But the foreign keys in one of my tables prevents me from being able to do that in PhpMyAdmin since it gives a "cannot truncate" error message.

I'm having the same problem with MySQL for Excel. There is one column of text in this database table that I need to edit. I can use the "Import MySQL Data" option of MySQL for Excel to select and open the one table column in Excel. But I need to edit the data, not append (add new rows of data) to the table.
I cannot use the "Edit MySQL Data" option since I get an error message that says: "Unrecognized Guid format" (I think the column with the foreign keys is titled "guid"). I also cannot select the one table column to open/edit with the "Edit MySQL Data" option since the window that opens does not enable me to select individual columns (it has all the columns selected and I cannot scroll to view the columns to the right of the visible window.

I don't know much about MySQL so I was hoping someone would have advice on how I can edit a MySQL database table when the foreign keys data of some of the table columns are blocking me from doing the edits the normal ways.

I downloaded the MySQL Workbench but I don't know how to write scripts to make the edits.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Here is the MySQL page that I got the downloads from: http://www.mysql.com/why-mysql/windows/

Thank you!

I installed MySQL for Excel using regular MySQL installer. Everything worked fine for a few days, and now I can't get MySQL for Excel to load in Excel.

When I go to Developer ribbon in Excel and open COM Add-ins, MySQL.forExcel appears as installed along with other addins I have installed (e.g. PowerPivot). However, the checkbox on the MySQL.forExcel is unchecked, I check it and press OK, but nothing happens (the application button does not appear in the Data ribon) - when I open COMM Add-ins again, it appears unchecked again...

So, there seems to be a problem in loading application which seems to be properly installed.

Thanx for any advice.

Hi,

Tonight I was so happy to discover that this tools exists, however it looks like there is a bug on French systems which disapoints me a lots... as you may know in France, all the floating numbers are written like : 12,45€ instead of 12.45€

This gives the following querry when I try to commit an entry :

Deleting 0, Inserting 1, Updating 0 row(s) with the following SQL statement(s):
001: INSERT INTO `world`.`country` (`Code`,`Name`,`Continent`,`Region`,`SurfaceArea`,`IndepYear`,`Population`,`LifeExpectancy`,`GNP`,`GNPOld`) VALUES ('TK','Tans','Africa','Eastern Africa',390757,1980,11669000,37,8,5951,8670)
MySQL Error 1136:
Column count doesn't match value count at row 1

The value 37,8 is considered as 2 different colums instead of one single number. Does anybody know a workaround?
