i have blob data in my firebird database...so makin and insert statement like this:

cant migrate to mysql the blob type ...this not recognize on mysql...

any ideas ???

I am converting Firebird stored procedures to MySql stored procedures. Anyone know the best way to convert this:

for select distinct id from thing where some_id = :valid_id into new_value;

What is the equivalent of a for select in MySql?

What is the best tool to migrate Interbase dbs into MySQL? The MySQL Migration Tool does not specifically call out Interbase as a pre-defined program to migrate data from. Thanks for the help!

I need to migrate an application from FIREBIRD to MYSQL and I would like to know if MYSQL has a kind of "transparent gateway" like we have in Oracle.
Using this feature in Oracle I can make selects, inserts, updates and deletes transparently.
Do you have some hints ?

In FirebirdSQL and Interbase SQL Domains exists, in MySQL exists ?

Domain is a constant that define a data type. The domain is used in to define variables into stored procedure and a DDL instructions such like CREATE TABLE.

I used firebird and create queries to search for parts of a field or more that 1 field like this

SELECT * FROM table1 WHERE Name STARTING WITH 'Joh'

then it will display all the records that starts with 'Joh'

Or SELECT * FORM table1 WHERE addres1 CONTAINING 'Ave' OR address2 CONTAINING 'Avr' OR address3 CONTAINING 'Ave'

Then it will display all records that has die word 'Ave' in any of the 3 fields, its nice tot search for an address but it does work in MySQL what is the options to do something like that

I am trying to migrate my Borland JDataStore Database to MySQL using the Migration Toolkit 1.0.25.
I define the source as Generic JDBS database and erverything is working fine except if there are columns defined as type INTEGER in the source database.
Following error message occurs for each INTEGER-column:
"An exception occured when the migration method was invoked for COLNAME (null)"

What must/can I do?

I have problem on triggers when i migrate from firebird 1.5x to mysql v5.0.19.

Below Trigger has no problem when copy from firebird to mysql and just modify some.

CREATE TRIGGER `DELQTY_AI` AFTER INSERT ON `DELQTY`

Here is a problem for more complex trigger and have error when compile

Now I use Interbase or Firebird and my boss want me to try to use MySQL !
I don't know exactly why because I prefer Firebird but I want to know what is so good in MySQL ?
I use actually Event in my database and I want to know if this exist in MySQL ?
