Re: connecting to the database over a network

Thanks for all the answers thus far.

I talked to someone, and he told me that the MySQL-server should run on our network-server, and not be runned from a workstation. He told me that if I start up the server with WINMYSQLADMIN.EXE from a workstation, that I then cannot connect to the database from another workstation, because the SQL-server runs locally, and not on the network-server.

Is this true? Is there a way to work around this. Our network-server runs on Netware 5, and this isn't compatible with MySQL, so I cannot run the MySQL-server on our network-server.
