how to set-up a terabyte DB

I have about 700G of data spread out over a cluster of 14 PCs. I originally thought MySQL Cluster would be able to handle such a large amount of data. However, from what I have read in the Cluster forum, it seems that MySQL Cluster can only deal with as much data as it can store in RAM, not on disk. Unless I have misunderstood, it seems I would need lots more computers in order to use MySQL Cluster for my DB.

Nevertheless, I have read that you can use MySQL to store more than a terabyte of data.

So how are people doing it? Any suggestions for further reading would be greatly appreciated.
