Thanks. It makes sense, but didn't work. First I tried to change access privileges for desktop (ctrl-click, -> get info method). Got the same reply from the sql prompt in terminal: "ERROR 1 (HY000): Can't create/write to file '../steves/desktop/sent2.txt' (Errcode: 2)".

Then tried to chown -R, which made me a little nervous in the first place. But I got a bunch of "Operation not permitted" errors, whixh I'm actually glad about. I'm a little new to unix, and don't want to mess with file ownerships until I really know how to set it back to what it was.

Besides, I like the changing permissions method better anyway. Why do you think it didn't work?
