Automated (Periodical) backup ??

Hi,
I need to have an automated backup of Mysql. I can use mysqldump utility and schedule it periodically using crontab, however it will need to specify the mysql acccount password in crontab file which will be visible to all. Is there any backup method where I wont have to specify my password in PLAIN text ?
