Query Has Narcolepsy (goes to sleep)

Hi!

I'm developing a large dynamic web site using PHP/Apache/MySQL and most of my scripts run very quickly. Three, however, take upwards of 30 seconds to run. There are no large datasets. When I observe the processlist, i see that the queries (each of them in the script in turn) go to sleep immediately and remain asleep for 10-15 seconds each.

Any ideas on what is happening?
