Retrieving empty data from a text or blob field error 80020009

I'm using an ASP script that retrieves information from a TEXT field in my database. But if there are no information in that field it give me the error :
"Microsoft OLE DB Provider fro ODBC Drivers (0x8002009)
Multiple-step OLE DB operation generated an erros. " ect..
I have two system one that use the old version, which doesn't give me an error MYSQL 3.23.55 and the other version ie: 3.23.58 or 4.1.8 do give me this error.
I've seen a couple of comment on various forum about this problem, but I can't seem to find a real solution.
