Hey thanks mike ---- that worked but now its not grouping right ----

SELECT racer_name,SUM(points) as psum
FROM race_results
WHERE 'class'='gas'
GROUP BY racer_name
ORDER BY psum DESC

Its grouped by racer_name which is just that a name --- and even though the names are the same its not grouping --- ex

Jim smith 45
Jim smith 45

Where it should be = Jim smith 90
