mysqlhotcopy or mysqldump

mysqlhotcopy and mysqldump can both be used for the backup.

for a small size e-commerce web site, what kind back up policy I should use, and what tool should i use, mysqlhotcopy or mysqldump?

for back ups, in brief words, what kind back up mysqldump is better? and what kind backup mysqlhotcopy is better?
