Make Table or Catalog Read Only

We're migrating wiki platforms (both using MySQL). I need to make the old wiki read only. I can't use the wiki config to do that because we need to be able to get to the Edit screen to get the old documents in some cases. I need to make the revisions table read only but after spending the last 45 minutes trying to figure out how to do that I give up. Google is not my friend today.

How can I set a table to be read only for ALL users, including root? The user account set up in the ODBC connection is root. I've already tried revoking INSERT and UPDATE on user root but it didn't work. I've scoured the properties in the GUI administrator and I don't see anything to mark a table as being read only.

Any help would be appreciated.
