How to get 'shell >' ?

Hello,

When I open Terminal, this is the prompt:

This-Guy's-Computer:~thisguy$

To access MySQL I enter:

/usr/local/mysql/bin/mysql -u name -p

Every reference work says I should be getting a shell prompt ['shell >'] and this confuses me. It makes me feel as if there is something wrong with my setup. Also, I'd much prefer a shell prompt (it's shorter), but do not know how to get this.

Thanks very much for any suggestions.

Joe
