Andrew, if you want us to help you you've got to help us a little.

It seems to me that for the purposes of your query you need three tables, let's call them `subcategory`, `budget_info`, & `monthly_budget`, with the following columns (and nothing else) somehow distributed amongst them;

category_item
select_month
budget_amount
expenditure
category_id

Then you need to supply us with some data - just enough to be representative - together with a corresponding resultset.

Also, you're using Wordpress or something like that aren't you? Are obliged to have that abysmal comma-delimited string data ('01,02,03')?
