Brand spankin' new.
Hey, all. I'm brand new to databases and don't really have much programming experience overall. I'm trying to get some knowledge in PHP and MySQL, but I dont' know where to begin. I have a few questions that I need answered before I can even start doing basic tutorials.
1) Do I need an external server with Apache and Linux or something?
2) My computer is Windows XP. Assuming I'm using only Apache, Internet Explorer (latest version), PHP, and MySQL, where do each of these programs go? On my computer or on the server?
3) Are there any step-by-step tutorials which can help bring me along in the languages?
4) If I were to post a website with a database, how can I find out whether I'm using the right applications?
I think that should cover it for now. Thanks in advance.
