Remove non-alphanumeric characters
Hi all,
I'm looking for a function or something to remove non-alphanumeric characters from fields in a table. I need to run a comparison between fields in 2 tables, but the data in the fields often contains non-alphanumeric characters.
I've been searching this forum (and google) for a few days now, but only found this, which does not help me at all, as when I try to enter this code, mysql complains about some syntax error (which to be honest, I can't find as I'm quite new to mysql).

Can you please help me to point out the syntax error, or let me know if you've got a better solution?
Thanks in advance!
