Re: Unable to log in as root user after install

Hi

I've had a look through that document (I'd had a look earlier, but the complexity made me hope for an easier solution!)

Linux solution
I can't find the .pid file in the mysql data directory.

All platform solution
I can't seem to use the command to start msqld. I get this error message:

040806 16:37:03 Warning: Can't create test file /usr/local/mysql-standard-4.0.20-apple-darwin7.3.0-powerpc/data/Adrian-Tolls-Computer.lower-test
mysqld: Can't change dir to '/usr/local/mysql-standard-4.0.20-apple-darwin7.3.0-powerpc/data/' (Errcode: 13)
040806 16:37:03 Aborting

040806 16:37:03 mysqld: Shutdown Complete

Is this to do with directory permissions of the user running the script? i.e. do I have to do that sudo login stuff?

Cheers

Adrian
