Are tables independent?

I have different sets of data in tables which are not related together. Is it necessary to store them in different databases, not to make a very large database?

Each table is independently saved in a separate file, and when reading the table, only the table size matters, no matter how large is the database and how many tables exist. Am I right?

Or the database size matter, when mysql reads a single table?
