Re: Migrating MySql from Debian to Windows

Thanks Peter...I plan to tackle the MySQLDump sometime this week.

So that I could have direct access to the database I cloned the original hard drive with Clonezilla and put it into another computer that I have here in my office.

It works fine except for the fact that I have to edit one of the lines every time that I boot the computer....it gives an error message initially that says "WARNING bootdevice may be renamed. Try root=/dev/sda1".

So when I boot the computer I have to press "e" to change the following line
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.26-2-686 root=/dev/hda1 ro quiet

to

kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.26-2-686 root=/dev/sda1 ro quiet

I am guessing that the original Linux install is looking for drive hda1 and for some reason it is seeing the cloned drive as sda1.

When I make the change it boots fine but the next time I reboot it does the same thing again and I have to edit the line again.

Do you know how I can make the change so that it is permanent?

Thanks,

Bill
