MYSQL workbench install on mac?

Installing MYSQL on mac. In the wizard I put:

Path to Configuration File: /usr/local/mysql/support-files/my-default.cnf

IT WORKS!!

Section of server instance: WHAT DO I PUT HERE?

I know it's some kind of my.cnf file, but where do I find this? The web tells me to create it with some wizard, but where do I find this wizard and where do I put the file once I create it?

I think I've spent 3 hours just trying to install MYSQL workbench.
