How to run queries

I am familiar with Microsoft SQL server, but am new to MySQL.
As regards Microsoft SQL, I always use an application called QueryAnalyzer (SQL 2000) to write queries, run them, and see the result right away.
That is exactly what I want to do with MySQL, but, things are confusing.
I just installed MySQL, but I can't find any application that comes with it that is the counterpart of MS SQL QueryAnalyzer.
Can you please help?
I just want to write queries and run them.
Please help.
