mysql refused connections

Hello,
We are seeing issues with people being thrown out of an application which uses MySQL as it's back end database. This database is running on a Ubuntu server and has been running without issue until a few days ago.

I installed MonYog to see if I could see what was causing this. From the logs I can see we are getting a number of refused connections. Can anybody tell me how I can analyse these to find the root cause of the issue.
