How to upgrade MySQL 5.1.73 to latest version (at least 5.5) on Red Hat?

Hello,
how do I upgrade from MySQL 5.1.73 to the latest? sudo yum update mysql-server says No Packages marked for update?
I followed this upgrade guide, but it didn't work? http://dev.mysql.com/doc/mysql-repo-excerpt/5.6/en/updating-yum-repo.html
