Quick Question On Sorting VARCHAR date field?

Hi guys...
Here's the time/date that is entered into a varchar column. I'd like to be able to sort by the day rather than the time of the entry. What would the sql look like to do that?
Here's an example: 08:52:22 Jul 25, 2015 PDT
