ERROR! The server quit without updating PID file. OS X 10.10.5

I am new to mysql and I just installed mysql to my Mac running Yosemite 10.10.5. However, mysql is not starting and I am getting the following error: ERROR! The server quit without updating PID file

I am trying to start it using the following command: sudo /usr/local/mysql/support-files/mysql.server start.

Can someone help on that?
