Re: 5.7.9 MySQL install failure to start server

I could find no .err or .log files in C://Program Files/MySQL or ProgramData/MySQL (incl all subfolders) except for the installation log (below). If MySQL hasn't been configured or run would there be any error logs?
From System Event Viewer the following is listed:
failed to set datadir to C:\ProgramData\MySQL\Data\
(The description for Event ID 100 from source MySQL cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.)
I get this each time I uninstall/reinstall MySQL.
