Point to specific MySQL record

I have a grid displaying a MySQL table of data. How can I make it point at a specific record. I want all data to continue to be displayed, but focus to go to a specific record. For example, assume it is a table of cities. I might have an editor in which I type in 'DALLAS'. I want the focus to be shifted to the first record of 'DALLAS'. I still want FORT WORTH, etc. to be showing, just not in the point of focus.
