Retrieving data from a Long Binary Data field

I have ODBC only access to a MySQL db with a Long Binary Data field which I believe contains array data. Please can someone suggest the SQL I can use to retrieve this data. I am using MS Access to connect to the database which has a pass through query facility allowing SQL to be sent directly to MySQL without any alteration. Thanks
