How to get SELECT COERCIBILITY(xxx)=1?

Hi there.

In http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.6/en/charset-collation-expressions.html

It says:
「The concatenation of two strings with different collations has a coercibility of 1.」

What is 「The concatenation of two strings」? CONCAT?

But I can't get '1' from any result of COERCIBILITY(CONCAT(xx,xx)).

How can I get SELECT COERCIBILITY(xxx)=1?

Any help is appreciated.
