Hey Rick! Thanks for the valuable input.
We all sat down and looked into problems we were facing and how we could apply changes similar to what you listed.
Since I could not get partitioning to work as I wanted and users were pressing up, we decided to separate data manually and created monthly tables. Drawback: we needed to change our queries but since we had a query builder, it was quite easy to do.
We now have more engineers working on this matter and we did create summary tables per month, week and day. We also have a read only database, replication and what not.
Much more efficient.
I will bookmark your post and try to test your code snippet locally and see if that works.
