OPTIMIZEing a partition leads to OPTIMIZEing the entire table. (This is a known bug; I found it the hard way.) The workaround is to REORGANIZE the one partition that you want to OPTIMIZE.

What benefit do you hope to get from this partitioning? Will you be dropping "old" partitions? The HASHed subpartitions seem to be useless.

Do you do lots of DELETEs? Otherwise, why do you need OPTIMIZE?
