Cannot do such without explicitly searching each column of each table, and (if appropriated) combining the results with UNION.

Can you create a "tags" table that contains the things you might search for in this manner?

Otherwise it sounds like either a misuse of a relational database, or a poorly designed schema. Would you like to share more details (SHOW CREATE TABLE and what kind of thing you are searching for)?
