I am experiencing the same problem: I have installed the server under Windows Vista but on running it through the DOS command console, I get the message:
Error 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to mysql server on 'localhost' (10061)
I need to know:
a) Was this an error code generated by Vista or by mysql.exe?
b) In either case, what can be done to cure it?
The solutions mentioned by other users do not seem to work. Can an answer be provided by the competent MySQL staff please?
