Re: MySQL Server Instance Configuration Wizard Freezes
Hi Folks,
I spent a few hrs on this, install, uninstall
Buried in one of these posts is what made the difference (in addition to cleaning all of it's prior install locations and registry)
The default security (at least under windows 7 64bit) is read only for this msi installer file 5.1.50 (seemed to be the case for the essentials and the full)
I installed the full
Right click, select security, and change to full access (or something like that)
I installed as a windows service with auto starup, but it's not something I really want or need
I just want to play around with it and practice for the associate cert
So after it was running, I stopped the service and changed it to manual start
Double clicking on mysqld.exe flashes a command window but does not keep on running (checked in task manager)
Nor does running it commandline w/o args work either
The only way I found so far to run the server is mysqld.exe --console
Weird
Running it without options doesnt even write the the log file, even when launced from a batch script with a pause on the second line
