[mysql 5.1.32 on W2K3 ] Which retention of binaries logs is necessary ?

Hi,
Taken from 7.3 (Example Backup and Recovery Strategy. ) of the document :
http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/...y-example.html

For cases of operating system crashes or power failures, we can assume that MySQL's disk data is available after a restart. The InnoDB data files might not contain consistent data due to the crash, but InnoDB reads its logs and finds in them the list of pending committed and noncommitted transactions that have not been flushed to the data files.

=> My question : Which minimal retention of logs mysql-bin.xxxxx is necessary to enable restoring on that kind of failure (currently i've got logs of year 2009 and I think they are unusefull). Furthermore my database is not replicated.

Rgds,

Frederic
