unable to Install mysql

I have been having issues installing mysql. I download the msi when i proceed to install, at some point it asks me to give permission to wexinstaller. when i click yes the install just disappears. You would think that it might have installed or will come back with a setup or something of the sort but nothing whatsoever happens. I go to the cmd line to verify the installation in case it did install but nothing. I am not sure if someone else has had this issue.
