5.5: unknown variable max_relay_log_size and max_binlog_size

We have upgraded some MySQL servers from V5.0 to V5.5. The upgrade process stopped because of 2 unknown variables, max_relay_log_size and max_binlog_size in my.cnf. I commented them out, and the upgrade succeeded.

Is there a replacment for these two depricated variables?
