AutoIncrement is used to provide a guaranteed unique value for a row where no natural primary key exists.
However, some DB designers have been known to ascribe other meanings to an AutoIncrement field.

So, it shouldn't matter what the next Auto Increment value is, but it depends on whether the DB designer followed the rules or not.
