Sorry for the noise:
It turns out the user, even when entered in the configuration dialogue of mysql server, had not been created. This is actually very tiresome and not obvious: When a database user in a configuration dialogue is entered, one would suppose that this user is also able to use the database. That he/her has to be entered manually, looks like a bug of the installation.
