yes, the Database Synchronization feature in the Workbench will present you the ALTER TABLE script it will use for synchronization. Of course you can save that script and execute it manually from the command line or Query Browser or execute it right from within the Workbench.
This is also possible with DBD4, but you cannot see, save or edit the script there.
Although this feature will not be in the very first alpha, it is one of the main power features of the tool and we are planning real 2-way merging of 2 catalogs. So, not only that you can update the model in the Workbench and then alter the database, but also to include changes made to the database into the model.
