On our HP-UX 11.11 host the symbol __sendpath64 is
defined in "/usr/lib/libc.*", my best guess is that
you are using an older version of the operating
system, or the gcc installation has problems,

I tried reproduce it using gcc 3.3.1 and
HP-UX 11.11 against the 5.1.15 libmysqlclient
but can't reproduce the problem,
