Sorry, haven't tried it, and I think I read purify for
pentium works a bit differently. Did you try using
"compile-solaris-sparc-purify"? Seems to be no Sparc
specific stuff in there. But other assumtions, like
GNU make being named "gmake", And CC=gcc seem to
be missing from the long configure command line.

You have to make sure -DHAVE_purify is defined, else
you will get some false warnings from Purify,
