I would suggest that these "wizards" only serve to frustrate the novice user even further. I used the "wizard" to (try to) install MySQL on my Mac OS X machine and got nowhere. Then I started looking at a million different forums/discussions with a million different suggestions of how to get this supposed "wizard-installed" thing to actually work. "Oh, you have to do 'sudo pico blah blah'"... "Oh, you need to change the permissions of root user, no, mysql user, no..."

If I need to make all these scary Unix-level edits, why the hell call it a "package" or a "wizard"?

Well said, Martin: absolutely disastrous guidance.
