I cannot say whether or not there has been improvement since Stefan Hinz posted his reply last year, but I have contrived a little xml file to provide this supposedly "faster and more precise" search via Google and put up an installation link at
http://www.davidfreeman.net for the time being (it's just a little text file, don't worry); I threw up a little OpenSearch something for the 3.n-4.1 manual and the 5.0 manual onto
http://mycroft.mozdev.org , that should be working very soon.
I was just a bit frustrated at the internal search and didn't want to wait around for the internal search by Mnohochorat or whatever (:)).
