Depends on how commonly "artists" have multiple names &c. The one-child-table solution will be an EAV variant, OK if queries ont it are neither frequent nor complex, a nightmare otherwise.

year_died,month_died, day-died should be just date_of_death date, ditto for DOB.

I do not understand how a `sorting` column would be useful.
