storing the schedule

My question might seem a bit naive but I will do it anyway.
I am building an appointment scheduler. Users will be able to book appointments...by seeing the schedule of business users.

That being said, the business users when registering will have submit the hours during which they will be open.

Should the above info be stored in the db?
Is there any alternative?

If storing to the db is the only solution what type of column/columns should be these that would store info such as:
Monday 10:00-16:00
etc...

Furthermore I do not think they should be UNIX timestamps...as we are not talking here about specific points in time but rather something more general.
I hope I was clear.
Thanks...
