Maybe MySQL isn't the "POS".. Maybe its your knowledge about it that is a "POS". MySQL isn't a toy? This isn't something that anyone without some computer knowledge can download and understand. As for your problem about giving the wrong password (aka, your computer beeps at you)..

Did you put the correct password in? (mysql -u root -p )
Did you install mysql on port 3306?
If you didn't put it on 3306 did you specify which port? (ie. -P 3307)

One last thing.. the reason they have an enterprise version is for people like you and the other 500 people that can't even install MySQL. Don't get upset because you didn't download it and then it was there ready to go. MySQL needs to be configured to run for YOU.

So if you don't like MySQL go pay thousands to use SQL Server. You see how much easier that is.... i'll give you a hint.. it's not.
