Hi Peter,

For a MEM 3.0 server yes, you don't need to install an agent. The server will start monitoring the host it is installed upon automatically.

For remote hosts, you have the option of either adding connections remotely (on the MySQL Instances dashboard), or - and we do recommend this - adding an agent on all remote hosts, so that you can monitor their operating system stats, as well as MySQL ones (and generally share the load of monitoring, especially when scaling across many monitored instances).

Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to integrate custom collection files with an agentless installation. Please feel free to open an FR for this on bugs.mysql.com however.

Best regards,

Mark
