Added info:
My initial error was "mysql-workbench-community-6.2.4.1.el6.x86_64 Requires: proj". I fixed that by installing the python "Common Libraries for Logilab projects" package and it let me install mysql workbench. The system is a completely updated server from an RHEL subscription. Installed both MySQL client and server 5.1.73-3 at installation.
