Hi Jean,
this looks like a bug,
Can you please fill it up at bugs.mysql.com
with information about following variables:
wait_timeout,
net_read_timeout,
net_write_timeout,
interactive_timeout
Those can be found issuing: show global variables like'%timeout%';

Please also provide info how do you make connection.
Is it TCP/IP or SSH based?
And attach wb.log with debug3 level.
