Sorry, I totally forgot to ask about the target server version you set in your model. GET DIAGNOSTICS is available not before MySQL 5.6.4, so if you have an older version set it will correctly mark GET DIAGNOSTICS as syntax error.
You can change the server version to be used for all models in the general preferences or per model in the model preferences.
